Back to work, getting off break

Break

If you follow this blog (which I know no one is actually following), you would see that I haven’t made progress on writing for a few months.

For the past three months I was on medical leave, I focused on healing. However, I am starting work again (part time) in January, and with that I will start writing again.

The break was important for my mental and physical health.

What the hell is wrong with you

I have multiple chronic illnesses, including CFS caused by Long EBV and Long COVID, and I have mental health issues, I was focusing on getting better so I could work again.

The holidays have been good for me, and I’m looking forward to start working again. I have so many ideas for the book and how to improve it. I even have a sketch of the vessel used by our protagonists, the Union Science Ship AIX-09 I will include these sketches at the end of this article. They are merely concept sketches for my head to concentrate, I have aphantasia and thus I am unable to form voluntary mental images, so I had to get on paper. Unfortunately, I am a scientist and not a skilled artist, so they are simple.

Galactic Consequences

I will start writing Galactic Consequences again, and will try to focus and avoid branching on different stories, I already wrote two short stories on the same setting and I would really like to finish the first draft mid-2026. We’ll see if I am able to do that.

I will start by editing what I already wrote to correct the descriptions of the ship to correlate to the sketches I made. And another round of editing will not hurt as well. When I have finished I will start by resuming Chapter VIII. There are fifteen chapters in total so I am about halfway through the first draft, and I edit as I write.

I hope to have news for you (read: finishing chapter VIII) by the middle of February, finishing in January will be tough as I have many medical visits literally at opposite cities in my country.

Analgesia, a new domain for my writing hobby

So, if you follow this blog (first of all, what the hell, like, why?) you would be able to see all links now point to analgesia.icu/*

The old URL still works to access the website and even see the RSS flux, which I’m sure exactly 0 people are subscribed to (do not lie, you’re not there, I’m the only one reading, and writing.) but all internal links points to analsia.icu as the new domain.

Why…

You could ask

Why? Why? Analgesia? It has nothing to do with writing!?

And you’d be right, but when I saw (for totally normal reason) that analgesia.icu was available I jumped on it. Why? Well to quote my own blog article from my main blog a few minutes ago

Mostly because (Painkillers) (Dot) (Intensive Care Unit) was too much fun to pass.

I asked on the fediverse (the exact toot was this one) what to do with my awesome new domain and someone just said to use it for one of my hobbies, and writing is currently my only hobby beside.. well work.

So I did it! Everything is under analgesia.icu, by the way www.analgesia.icu also works.

Future

I want to do some fun things with this domain, my next likely project will be to add an online static reader for my stories, probably something like reader.analgesia.icu, to be clear it doesn’t exist yet. Or I may do something funnier like cuddy.analgesia.icu because I like House, MD. Or something else, just contact me if you have any ideas.

Vacations, progress.

Hello!

I was on vacation all summer (well I was on vacation from work in August but I took a leave from writing for the two months of summer). But I am proud to announce work on Chapter VIII of Galactic Consequences has resumed.

I spent a lot of time on myself, getting therapy sessions and getting a psychiatrist back. I also adopted a cat, I’ll post about her in my general blog here, she’s anxious but I am happy to have her.

I am happy to write again, and no promises but I hope to finish this chapter soon-ish so I can start onto the next one. Chapter VII was exhausting emotionally and Chapter VIII is even more so.

Seventh chapter

I finally made it! The absolute chunk of a chapter (at around 3,700 words after the latest round of editing.) is finished and edited!

Chapter VI finished

I am back to write again, I finished writing the sixth chapter, it will certainly need a lot of editing; it has action, and I’m not good at writing action.

It’s good, I like it, but as I said it will need some editing to shine. And yes, I might have flirted with the fourth wall. But I guess you will have to wait until it is released to see it ;).

What now? It’s empty

Work, life

Like I said in my most recent (as of today) blog post on my main blog work kept me very busy pretty much all through April and early May.

Now I started work (for real) and it will reflect on my time to do writing stuff.

Are you disappearing? Certainly feels that way

I’m not! Just taking a step back for the time being, I need to get the rope of my work first and I need to be good at it!

I want to see Galactic Consequences see the light of day and it will! However long it may be.

State

The State of things hardly changed. I’m still 60% of the way up to the first draft of Chapter VI of GC and have the first three chapters of the short story done.

I will be back, just give me time.

What’s Up?

Long time no see

Hey, I know it’s been more than three weeks since I’ve given signs of life.

I am working on the novel and the short story, but I have to admit it’s long and I am struggling with motivation these days, I have a busy time at work with the current project and I’m starting my new assignment soon – and I have to move halfway accross the country.

State of affairs

The current chapter of GC being written (Chapter VI: Fugitives) is about halfway done but havn’t been touched in a couple weeks.

The silly short story I refer as “Roommates” (because the working title is so long). Is two chapters out of five done. These are smaller chapters, a little above a thousand words a chapter, contrast to GC chapter which are about three thousands words a chapter. I just finished chapter two today.

The immediate future

On the immediate future, May will probably be a complete write-off, between the move, the new assignment at my job, and my anxiety.

But I should be able to finish Chapter VI: Fugitives of GC by mid June, again, no promise, but I should be able to. Again, like the others I’ll send it to my beta readers and start on Chapter VII (not gonna title drop ;)).

In the meantime I’ll finish Roommates and send it up to some friends for beta reading and then publish it on the usual suspects (so, SH, RR, AO3, and maybe here if I finally finished the online reader).
